Project Read Together
Literacy enrichment for children, built through community connections.
Our Mission
Engaging literacy instruction and enrichment for children — built by connecting preservice education students, teachers, and volunteers.
Project Read Together, Inc. is a Sarasota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2016 with a single, stubborn conviction: that literacy is not a luxury, and that the communities who most need reading resources are often the ones most equipped to distribute them — if only given the structure.
The organization develops programs that enhance literacy efforts for children and their families, channeling grants and donations into the neighborhoods where they are most needed.
Every initiative rests on the same evidence-based, multi-sensory foundation: reading is taught best when it is taught together.
The Founder
Professor Anna Vigliotti
Founder & President, 2016–2020
As founder and President of Project Read Together, Professor Anna Vigliotti built the organization from the ground up — writing grants, distributing resources, and placing them into the specific corners of Sarasota County where children stood to benefit most.
Her work extends beyond PRT. As a State College of Florida professor, she created Professor V’s Teaching Café — an online gathering place recognized by the Florida House of Representatives as a model for engaging students across diverse, international learning environments.
Little Free Libraries
Books planted like trees across Sarasota County.
Through grants, partnerships, and a stubborn belief in the ritual of the neighborhood bookshelf, Project Read Together donated four Little Free Libraries to Sarasota County parks. They are still serving the community today — quietly, continuously, one book at a time.

Four libraries. Still serving.
By 2020, PRT has donated four Little Free Libraries across Sarasota County parks — all of which remain active today.
The libraries are still open.
Visit one. Take a book. Leave a book. That’s all it was ever supposed to be — and it’s still exactly what it is.
